Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to have walked through the towns and villages at the time Jesus was alive, to hear talk of His teaching and the miracles, and then to hear of His death and Resurrection.
What would it have been like to experience the Church of the book of Acts? These were times when the pages of Scripture literally came alive to those who were living them. You and I are living at a time just like this.
Internationally, Jerusalem, more than ever before is a burden and an obstacle that keeps world leaders tearing their hair out and seeking Nobel Peace prizes (see Zechariah 12:2 – 3). Armies and world powers are jostling for position and alliances never before seen in history – yet exactly pictured in the pages of scripture (See Psalm 83, Ezekiel 38 & 39, Joel 2 & 3). And closer to home, our own culture – reflected around the world – celebrates the right for everyone to do what is right in their own eyes – and when evil is called good, and good is evil (Isaiah 5:20, Judges 17:6, Matthew 24:37).
All of this makes this a time of great anticipation for believers in Jesus Christ. Now, more than ever before, we need to know the truth that is only found in Jesus – contained in the pages of the Bible, and lived out in Spirit filled lives. We need to gather, to encourage one another, to worship Jesus, and to search the Scriptures to know what we should do.
And most importantly, this is a time of anticipation – for this is a time that the Bible teaches us, is the conditions that reflect the time of Christ’s return. So we must be ready to share the Good News with others – for many will come to salvation in Jesus. And if you do not know Jesus as your saviour, then please, can I encourage you to discover what the Bible really teaches about Jesus, and choose to make Him your saviour today.
Drop us a message and we’d love to write back, or better still, we’d love to invite you to come and worship with us, or drop in during the week for a coffee.
